Inferno is a great book and another great work by Dan Brown. Told from the perspective of a professor who has lost his recent memories, he has to piece together the complicated chain of events that lead to him lying in the hospital with a bloody head. He will discover the reasons to his peril and will have to finish what he started. Following bits and pieces of breadcrumbs he had left behind, he embarks on a treacherous path while being pursued by a mysterious consortium of killers. This is a thrilling book in every way possible, with the race against time being a major factor throughout the book, which is also what drives the protagonist to take drastic measures to achieve his goal, making smart use of resources to both work towards his goal and evade his pursuers.
The similarity between Inferno and many other Dan Brown novels is their elements of art, history and science, making the plot realistic and the story even plausible in real life. As Dan Brown states, “All artwork, literature, science, and historical references in this novel are real.”. With the scene of the book being set in Florence and Venice, Dan Brown makes use of the real life locations, intertwining them together with intricate details, down to a metal pipe. The entire novel comes down to a very real topic - the rapid increase of the world population. The book asks the question about what will the human race do to counteract the population increase. The book is logical in such a way that actions from the past had lead to the troubles of the present, which then leads to an uncertain future. The book can, and will, easily leave you pondering. This is what Dan Brown does best in every book he writes, as he drives readers to reflect on the topics of each and every book. Inferno is no different; it is also a book that is definitely worth a read, as it is another great piece of work from a great thriller writer.
